The author does an amazing job balancing the technical with the practical. He does discuss some very technical aspects of soil science but does it in such a way that you never once think your sitting in a chemistry class. For the average gardener, this will probably be as technical as you'll ever want to get. If you are a budding soil scientist, this book will provide a gentle introduction to the topic that will prepare you for more advanced study. A truly multifaceted treatise on the art and science of soil buildin​g and maintenance.

I had purchased "Start with the Soil" by the same author and loved it. I thought this book would be a more advanced version but this is not the case. It was actually written before and reworked in a different format to become "Start with the Soil". This is the reason I gave it a lower rating. Although there are some differences, I would say if you are interested in a home size garden or landscape, this book is really not the better choice even thought the other is no longer in print. That said, the information contained is invaluable and something anyone who loves working the soil should really understand--which ever version you end up purchasing.

I have not finished the book yet, but it seems to be an excellent source of information on soil. I always have done well with growing things, but I did not realize how important soil health is for today's world. I took a course in basic horticulture at Solano College which has a great program! If we do not work on having healthy soil in our yards and on commercial farms, our soil could become depleted of nutrients and healthy critters like worms and microscopic "animals". Should that happen, the world's breadbasket could be at risk. The world needs both plants and animals for our sustenance. Remember the Dust Bowl? It could be worse. Artificial chemicals kill the microscopic life in our soil. Organic farming can be a solution. This book will give us ideas on how to make this happen. There is a lot of population to be fed! Worth the money!

I am a farmer.I utilized this book a great deal this past growing season, from quoting a beautiful explanation of what sustainable agriculture is, understanding compost application rates, reading the health of a field by the weeds present, to the instructions for on-farm compost making.There are also a number of great tables contained in this book, which I'm sure I will reference time and time again.The language is clear, not too technical for a generalist to understand, yet with enough information to be worth the time reading.While I couldn't recommend this for someone on their first foray into gardening, I feel that it is a must read for any aspiring farmer.

Despite the title, this is one of the best organic foundation books I have read. You grow the soil, and the soil grows the plants. Scientifically based, but written in clear understandable language, this book goes over the basics of how to enrich your soil immediately or over years, using cover cropping, composting and other simple methods. Don't just read it - try it out. You have nothing to lose.

Great product at a great price. Soil from the perspective of the large farm. Useful also when evaluating your own lawn and garden. A great reference book to show off to your friends.

This book is a good primer that introduces basic soil biology and chemistry. I would have liked to have been shown clear examples of the application of the principles outlined in the book as it relates to an actual operation complete with a standard soil analysis.

This is a must read for the serious environmentally concious gardener and farmer alike. Tons of practical knowledge you can put to use the next time you step onto the planting grounds as well as the scientific results to back it up!

great book encasing all the the most memorable ones from childhood and some that I'd never seen before.

This "BOOK" is awesome, brought back many memories. Can't believe people thought that there would actually be real stickers in this book. 350, old school possibly collectors item stickers for $11.30??? The actual stickers would have been a bonus but I would have expected to pay way more if that was the case.

The book is... not bad.But you really have to add to description that it DOES NOT HAVE peelable stickers.

I used this study with my church's Young Adult group. Connelly does a good job to bring together both the narrative portions as well as the prophetic.In some of the prophetic portions I think additional study is necessary, as the notes do not (and by nature of the brevity of the study) could not cover in full. The general gist was well taken however: God is sovereign Lord of the nations. His plans will come to fruition, and nothing can stand against Him.

Good study. Most questions were good - a few "how would you feel" questions are kind of wacky. The first half of Daniel was easy to teach. The prophesy part was much harder, but the notes in the leader's guide helped to some degree. Probably would be better to have a seminary degree or more extensive Bible training to teach the second half. Took a longer time than usual to prepare these sections.

When this $9.00 "book" arrived, it was a shock to see its thinness. More like a pamphlet, it was immediately off-putting to have paid so much for so little. True, size does not define content, but we apportion our hard-earned money for tools to aid our personal spiritual growth and want it to be a satisfying experience. It's difficult to know what you're getting when ordering online, so next time I will be smarter & check out the number of pages.

Information in this book is really good, in this audiobook. But as audiobooks go this is incredibly boring to listen to. You're literally listening to someone read off of paper. He reads fast. His examples are unmemorable. And. He gives one quick example for each point and then quickly moves onto the next point. Again the information is really good but it's incredibly hard to focus on an audiobook that is mother told, quickly read, with poor samples and no stories to highlight The points he's trying to make.

This book outlines some really good techniques for telling for a person is lying, withholding information or determining a persons true level of interest. It goes beyond mere body language and in fact doesn't even cover those theories.It describes specific scenarios and explains the way you can apply these techniques. If you'd like to discover if a person is really interesed in a job postion for instance. You first gauge their level of confidence and then by way of testing figure out if that person has more than a minimal level of interest. If they are really interested then they will become stressed when they see their chances for getting what they want are diminished. That makes sense though of course those reactions can be imitated by someone intending to mislead.This book is good for employers or anyone who has to interact with persons whose true motivations are not easily determined. I have several books on body language and although those theories often hold true and are observable and repeatable this book is different.

I got this in audio CD. I am in traffic and I feel like he is sitting next to me and telling me this. I also own the book and have read it 5 times.

I have to admit that if this line wasn't in the book, I would have likely rated this book lower:"Does this mean you will be able to read anyone with perfect precision, every time? No. The system is not 100 percent foolproof. However, you will gain a definitive statistical advantage in every encounter."The theory mentioned in this text is sound, but without a good grasp of the context of a situation, the information here is useless. It's important to understand how someone is, the experiences that affect them, and the context of the situation (formal vs. informal for example) so that reactions can be gauged properly.Another warning about this book: Some of the examples are unclear without a conceptualization of the context, and without a firm grasp of the concept being discussed. It's not unusual to need to reread sections of the book and (to an extreme) ask questions.As far as who I would recommend this book for... Although the title of the book makes it sound ideal for everybody, it really takes both intelligence and a good character to apply the techniques properly and accurately. When I say good character, I mean someone who is good at avoiding the pitfalls of human nature, such as egotism. Keep in mind that this book is based on Psychological principles, some of which we ourselves are subject to and that can intefere with our ability to use the methods defined here effectively.

Even if you can't picture yourself in the situations he describes you walk away with an awareness of human nature; what liars say/do...etc. It's one book you'll reread and gain something every time you pick it up.Not a generic 'feel good' book but exactly how it's described. Try it.

A bit too technical for me, but for someone in business or law enforcement it would be a great book. I believe I learned many good things even if I think it's a bit over my head.

This book has some wonderful insight to it. I would consider this a quick read. The projections are good as well as the flow and techniques provided.As with any book don't expect this to be the end all be all but is great for getting your feet wet.

I enjoyed this book. Thought it had some useful tidbits, but I wouldn't say that it could be easily applied in every situation. I think you'd have to practice and know your "audience", before applying some of his logic.After reading this book, I know I've had someone apply one of these principles to me at one time. I'm a fairly open person and I wish they would've come right out and asked me instead of me "reading them" and what they were trying to get at. Of course, not everyone is as open, so these tips may help in discovering another person.
