This is a terrific cookbook that includes far more guidance and advice than just about any guide I have yet come across. Except for one major letdown, I would rate this at LEAST five stars. Before discussing that disappointment, though, let me explain why I still find this to be an exceptional aide in the kitchen.As will be evident as you peruse the attached screenshots, the author has a knack for summarizing her tried and tested mouth-watering dishes. Each recipe provides prep & finishing times; pressure cook duration; release times; as well as soak times (when appropriate). Ingredient listing is clear and easy to follow and is followed by instructions. She then explains how to double the recipe and, frequently, how to use the leftover ingredients; and, of special interest to me, she provides nutritional information.Three dishes stood out for me as especially welcome:A – North African Chickpea Stew;B – Pinto Beans with Chorizo (my absolute favorite sausage)C – Spaghetti Squash with Browned Butter and ParmesanI love the variety of dishes beyond explanation, and the method of presentation.So, what is the one disappointment? Simply put, too few photographs. Without our wanting to go full vegetarian, we’re aiming to eat Meatless at least a handful of meals per week and to eat high fiber each day. So much of the world eats great beans and grains per day, Americans would do well to do more of this, too, with all of the fantastic health benefits.One note, in Jamaican Rice and Peas, she cites using Allspice. I just ran across this as an ingredient recently in another cookbook, and both I and another review faltered at bit at that ingredient being included in a savory dish. Turns out this is Allspice, a peppery herb, used in Jamaican, Caribbean, and some Middle Eastern dishes, not the clove-like tasting spice, All Spice. Who knew? Many of you might already. For us newbs to this herbs like me, this was a novel thing. Just, FYI. Secondarily on this dish, she’s suggesting long-grain rice. I’m sure we low-carbing folks would looking into a long-grain brown rice or cauliflower rice as alternatives.5 Meatless MainsI keep hearing Bugsy Bunny singing that Depression Era hit, “No More Meatless Tuesdays” with that title, but this is great for Vegetarians and Vegans and all of the rest of omnivores to work into our lives weekly. I’m already floating off in a fantasy of veggies contemplating how soon I can acquire the necessary cruciferous to make Curried Cauliflower Soup p. 76. The Mushroom Stroganoff sounds divine. It does call for egg noodles, which are too are too carby for me. But I’ll discuss with my middle sister about substitutions. Should we come up with something which works well, I’ll update my review later with that item.6 Seafood and PoultryHer Italian and Bean salad may just get me to try albacore without mayonnaise. I’m intrigued by the high protein combination of tuna and Cannellini white beans! Personally, I’ll be omitting the canned green beans and opt for the fresh ones from my produce area, more nutrients, less sodium and processed foods.7 Beef and PorkI am most intrigued to acquire a few necessary ingredients and pursue the Thai Red Beef curry! (I include a fuzzy focused picture of the page so the recipe details are given away which would rob Ms. Zimmerman of her IP.) Doesn’t the photo of the dish look terrific?8 DessertsOMG, mini cheesecake variations! We might be eating cheesecakes for months! I love this, because that is one of the drawbacks to me of more Cheesecake recipes or even portions at restaurants. They’re HUGE. Way too much and ergo not a good choice for me.I grew up outside of NYC where we could readily get Baby Watson cheesecakes which really were min-cheesecakes for one. You could have your cheesecake and eat it, too! Namely, you really could enjoy a single serving of excellent cheesecake without having to purchase either a whole cheesecake or huge slice which was large enough to share among a party of four. I could enjoy this without massively over-indulging.She doesn’t offer a veg alternative, but I think I have heard of using something like silky tofu as a cream cheese substitute, so maybe?And, drum roll please, Ricotta Cheesecakes! I have had this only in the Italian district of Boston. Articles have been written as poetic tribute odes to this dessert. I have been waiting for my sister who lives in Boston to come visit me again to bring me a whole one. I need no longer wait! I could attempt my own now with an Instant Pot and Zimmerman’s recipe! This dish is so amazing (I’d omit the strawberry topping, but I’m a purest that way, you might not be.), it’s worth the whole price of this cookbook just to attempt that!9 Kitchen StaplesInstant Pot Pressure Cooking Time ChartsSee what I mean about her being so helpful with her years of Pressure Cooking expertise conjoined with Instant Pot® cooking? She teaches so much to her readers about becoming more adepts with cooking with your Instant Pots®.I’m kind of lost in a sea of bliss thinking about how to play with different legumes and grains all from Chapter 4. In all likelihood, a few of those will be what I’ll be attempting first in the next few weeks. As I do so, I’ll be sure to come back here and update my review with some cooking anecdotes and images. I really appreciate how she used a number of different kinds of legumes so we can enjoy some variety in dishes as well as in the nutrients. One of the joys of cooking legumes in an Instant Pot® is the cooking dry beans can be done super rapidly without the need of an overnight soak. Cooks can get a better value working from the dried legumes and massively reduce the sodium in most of the canned beans readily available to use. We both cut down on cost at purchase and processed food intake, but buying dry reduces our kitchen’s garbage production as well.Personally, as an author and writer familiar with some of the challenges of the Publishing world, I’m often quite understanding of there not being a lot of photographs of the dishes because to do so massively increases the publishing costs. And the publisher does include a few more example photos throughout this cookbook than some of their others. But because I am just such a rank newb with the Instant Pot®, I really would have loved more photographs illustrating the outcomes more. But I’m not dinging them for it. Just, wistful thinking.All the recipes come with Nutritional Information, so you can manage your own family’s needs and requirements, which really is so helpful. This way there are no surprises about sodium or other item which can be a huge health issue for some like it is in our family and for some of my closest friends and their family.I HIGHLY recommend this cookbook. It’s so flexible and adaptable for so many different diets, lifestyles, and dietary needs. Didn’t care for any recipes Not relevant to me and mine

I love that this book has recipes geared towards the different Instant Pots (BTW not surprising this book is authorized by Instant Pot) and so if you have any size model, you can really trust the amounts and the settings. I think, even with so many models, it is still difficult to always find the right setting and amounts, so this book definitely takes the guessing out of using the Instant Pot. And if you are like me and late to the game because you heard all these horror stories about exploding devices and kitchen ceilings needing make-overs, you appreciate any bit of security and trust in recipes you can get.The selection of the recipes overall is great too, from staples such as rice pudding and cheesecake, the book also has a nice section of meatless dishes and uses Quinoa and other ingredients that can be used in recipes made up by the more experienced user. The book is well organized and the images are just the right amount to keep the book in a format that can be easily carried and used, while cooking. Besides a good a number of stews, the book also has a nice selection of chicken dishes, such as sweet and sour chicken. Overall, a good book for the novice instant pot user, but the more experienced user will also find some interesting dishes.I received a free copy from the publisher.

I truly enjoyed this book and one in which (again) any student of Military History should read to better comprehend the madness that the “Expendable Generation” had gone through – no “thanks” on the back end when they returned and many young men went off to their deaths while loved ones back home were then forced to face the grief of the loss.How Mr. Chambers survived this war and events is statistically an outlier in my view. His devotion to his LRP members, the struggles they all went through and to greater extent I can only imagine the nightmares they face today – long after the war was pulled to a hasty conclusion.It is sincerely obvious to me that the few reflections that Mr. Chambers shares with us readers on his own family back in the USA is an attempt to better understand he also knew he had a higher purpose awaiting him years later. These “years later” events aren’t captured to specificity within these pages; however, the reflections show much he loved where he came from and to whom he belonged. I was especially touched early on when Mr. Chambers discussed his own Father – how he wished he had more time to simply “talk” with him. This in my view added to his courage and ensured his inconceivable survival in this jungle rotted hell that he had gone through – and many other like him who also survived; some, as we know never made it back. The poignant description of how bodies left the Republic of Vietnam for the return flight home to the USA is provided honorably and sadly on page 167.My heart went into my stomach as I read of the Ellis Radio Relay Team – I had the same effect when a young soldier by the last name of Lytle drowned – all of these men were someone’s son, brother, father, uncle etc.To all the Vietnam Veterans I wish to express my sincere thanks for your honorable service, your efforts were noticed by me as a young boy growing up – I came to know many before I myself had even enlisted in the USMC. You trained me well – and taught me as well how to “survive” in the midst of political madness and indecisiveness.This book should be mandatory reading for all U.S. Army Rangers and all U.S. Marines. These guys were so tough, is not even funny, and their mission in the A Shau Valley was plagued with increasing danger as the days went by. The narrative at times skipped a beat, but the overall impression of this book for me was that it was well worth taking the time to read it. Is like being there without the dangers, and I liked the humor at times of Mr. Larry Chambers. Is hard to imagine what was like unless one was there, but with these kind of books, written by well deserved authors, is the next best thing as entering their world for real. 4 Stars.

My platoon was the first US Armor into the A Shau Valley and 1st Platoon Co C 2/34th Armor were the only tanks to go to the top of Hamburger Hill after the 3/187th and other elements of the 3rd Brigade of 101st Airborne had taken it . The LRRPS/Rangers , of that Division were some of the finest soldiers this country has ever produced . It is hard to do justice in words to convey the things that happened in that AO . This comes as close as anything I have read . The A Shau Valley was not called the " Valley of Death' for nothing .

I could do without the introduction. It is a distraction and takes away from the story he had previously told.

I do enjoy reading about the LRRPs but I've gotten tired of reading the same story over and over again with the different authors that had been in the same unit. Example, the lightening strike. Chambers, Linderer, Johnson and one or two others have the same story. From slightly different angles, but still the same. If, however, you're reading this for the first time, enjoy.

This is an absurdly creative graphic novel equal in calibre to the works of Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman. The oversize deluxe edition with gorgeous dust cover is a fabulous way of reading this sweeping epic of fable fantasy for mature audiences, especially if you are a first time reader like me. When you consider the price of comics these days, this is a high value way of collecting this series since each edition has close to 10 comics and can be found on Amazon at about 40% of MSRP (or around $16 each + shipping). The comics are printed on high quality paper and the print quality is superb. The binding is glued which is not a problem given the size of the publication; it is of course problematic for the larger DC omnibus or absolute editions. Sometimes the comic is printed a little too close to the binding making it difficult to read, but these occurrences are rare. This a much high value product than the DC archives series which retails for $49.95 or higher. My only real complaint is the use of multiple artists on the same fable character across this epic. This normally would not be a problem if the artwork were equal across artists and if there was little variation in how the characters are portrayed. Some artwork is brilliant and some downright crude. Finally some of the stories are trite and should have been omitted. But overall we can ignore these disappointments. I definitely will collect the entire series.

This one starts off terrible in my opinion, the beginning focuses on Jack on a bit of a side story and is pretty boring and uninteresting for the most part. It has a purpose but won't keep you entertained. The other stories really pick up and give you a lot more about the world of fables. If for some reason you are at all waning on the series, this set would snatch you right back up. As always with this Deluxe series, you can expect the same high quality hard cover with glossy cover. I can't wait for the rest of the series to end up with the deluxe treatment!

What can i say? I am a collector of these books. I have read a lot of Bill Willinghams work and many different fables. I think that these are great and i would recommend that you buy these deluxe books if you dont do comics but enjoy graphic novels. The art is just awesome.

Love this series! The artwork and writing are excellent and the multiple story arcs are intriguing. Not for little children, but my 15 year old Niece really likes them too. Well done Bill Willingham.

I've said in other volumes of this that the binding is a bit weird, and cuts off images a bit near the spine but otherwise very good.

This is the largest Fables Deluxe Edition so far, with 304 pages of pure and genuine goodness. It reprints issues #34 to 45 of the original series. All of them written by Bill Willingham, with most of the art in hands of Mark Buckingham and the covers done by James Jean.The Contents of the book are the following:- A 2-page introduction by Matthew Sturges (co-writter of the Jack Of Fables series).- Issues #34 and 35 are a 2-part story entitled "Jack Be Nimble", with David Hahn as guest artist. It deals with the adventures of Jack in LA to get into the film industry and acts as a sort of prelude to the Jack Of Fables solo series. As you can expect of Jack, this is a very engaging and witty tale.- Issues #36 to 41 are a 5-part story entitled "Homelands" (with a 1-issue interlude in issue #39). Homelands is a story of the highest relevance in all of the Fables mythos. It follows the incursion of Boy Blue into the Homelands, in which we finally get to know the truth behind the identity of the Adversary. Issue 39, entitled "Meanwhile" is a short interlude with guest artist Lan Medina, starring Mowgli and dealing with what's going on in our world during Boy Blue adventures.- Issues #42 to 45 are a 4-part story entitled "Arabian Nights (And Days)". The main character of this saga is Simbad, who arrives to Fablestown with his entourage of Arabian Fables. I think this is one of the most interesting stories in the entire series, with well-crafted paralelisms with the War on Terror.- A 6-pages section of character designs by Mark Buckingham.The book edition is great, just as the previous volumes. It keeps the high-quality paper stock and printing and also features a printed hardback under the dustjacket (unlike most of Vertigo and DC's hardcovers that are just plain black). It's a glued binding book, but I don't regard this as an issue since the book reads swell and there's no significant gutter loss.In conclusion, Fables gets better with each succesive volume. This is one of the best series available in the market right now, equally appealing to the hardcore comic-book audience (like myself), to the literature enthusiasts or the occasional reader.

This was one of my favorite Fable books. I highly enjoy reading this series. This I would recommend even for people not big on comics. It's a fun series.

This book for children suggests the heroism of a dog and how it led to the formation of the Iditarad each year. Younger kids would enjoy the story of a dog-hero.

I'm not a dog person. Like `em fine. Don't see much particular need to interact with them on a regular basis. Sometimes, though, I'll feel like my life as a children's librarian would have been easier if I had been a canine fanatic. A large swath of children's literature each year is dedicated to man's best friend. This year alone I've seen dogs traveling vast distances to be reunited with their loved ones (A Dog's Way Home), convince kids that they are transformed accountants (The Ogre of Oglefort), and even appear as gallons of orange juice (When Life Gives You O.J.). Nonfiction doggies proliferate as well but I can usually steer clear of them. Unless Meghan McCarthy is involved, of course. Then I'm going to have to see what all the fuss is about. In this particular case, Ms. McCarthy has taken what at first appears to be a well-known story then finds the lesser known tales lurking inside of it. The result is a biography that's bound to please dog lovers and dog neutrals (like myself) alike.The year: 1925. The place: Nome, Alaska. The problem: An epidemic of diphtheria was imminent and yet a horrible blizzard was preventing all incoming planes from delivering the much needed serum. The solution: Balto. Sled dogs, you see, were dispatched with the serum on board and Balto was at the head of one of these teams. When Balto's group missed the next team at the next checkpoint, they were lead onward by Balto until they got to Nome themselves. That's the story lots of people know. What is less well known is what happened next. Balto was celebrated throughout the States, appearing in movies, on dog food cans, and even earning a statue in Central Park. Sadly, he and his team went on the vaudeville circuit and ended up underfed and neglected. Yet surprisingly the good people of Cleveland banded together to purchase the brave dog and his sled mates. As a result he spent the remainder of his days running around the Brookside Zoo where he, "could relax and enjoy the rest of his life."The queen of the amusing nonfiction picture book for young readers, McCarthy's titles are always remarkable because they cover ground no one else does. Whether it's the invention of bubble gum or a false report of an alien invasion, McCarthy's titles are always wholly new. That's why I was so surprised by her choice to tackle Balto next. As real life heroic dogs go, Balto's pretty darn well known. Even had a terrible animated film based on his life (has any other real life heroic animal received such an honor?). Yet as it happens the choice to pursue his story after the well-known event was what sets this book apart from the pack (ho ho). By page twelve the book has covered the part of the tale that everyone knows. After that it's in brand new territory.The picture book biography is a strange beastie. Your readership, for one thing, consists of a wide range of ages. As a result, some authors figure that it's a good idea to play it safe. You want to tell an accurate story of the past, but you need to find a way of doing so that doesn't go into some of the more unpleasant details at length. In this particular case, the mistreatment of Balto and his fellow sled dogs. Sold to a man with a sideshow, McCarthy makes it clear that things look bad for Balto. Yet no one wants to look at abused animals in a picture book, even if it is a true story. McCarthy's solution is twofold. In the text you actually don't hear anything about the abuse. All it says is that they were sold and "There Balto and the others were all but forgotten." Next, there are the pictures where McCarthy is careful to walk a fine line. She shows Balto and another dog against a gray background with thick chains attached to their collars. Balto's ears droop as he regards an upside down food dish, clearly empty. On the next page Balto watches as the man from Cleveland tries to do business with the sideshow owner. If you look at the dog, you'll notice that he's skinnier and mangier than he was in the past. McCarthy even gives one of his ears a half-cocked look, just to make the impression that all is not well. It's subtle, but in children's books sometimes you have to be subtle to be both honest and kid appropriate.Under normal circumstances I don`t much care for reviewing a work of nonfiction, even a picture book, without seeing the backmatter first. The galley of Balto that I'm reviewing from does not have anything in the accompanying "Author's Note" at the end yet. Like I say, I usually find this to be a problem, but for Ms. McCarthy I will always make an exception. The reason for this has to do with her track record. By and large, when you pick up a Meghan McCarthy book you pick up a picture book work of nonfiction that has some of the finest end matter in the biz, be it a biography of a hawk, or the finer points of space travel. I once sat in on an American Library Association gathering of their Notables committee where they debated the various attributes of McCarthy's biography of Charles Atlas Strong Man. The endmatter in that particular book contained some fun exercises that kids could do on their own. Someone on the committee lamented, though, that there weren't any warning labels that kids could get hurt doing these exercises (which contained all the danger of your average sit-up). This was, to be blunt about it, an inane bone to pick with the book. Ms. McCarthy's Author's Notes do not suffer fools. So while I cannot tell you what this book will say in the end, I can at least rest assured in my own mind that whatever it contains, it should be well thought out, well researched, and interested. But, as I say, I did not see it myself to be fair warned.A picture book work of nonfiction that reads like a picture book work of fiction is a valuable commodity. Subject matter is key, of course, as are intelligent illustrations that engage even as they inform. Meghan McCarthy's consistently high-quality works make her one of the best nonfiction picture book author/illustrators of the day. Imagine! Writing that's just as good as the art focusing on subjects everyone wants to know more about. Display this book and expect a hoard of kids who want to know more about the cute dog on the cover. Teaching history was never so easy.For ages 4 and up.

Any dog or man willing to risk life and limb to trek through snow and ice to bring medicine to the town of Nome Alaska that has fallen to a case of diphtheria, deserves praise and honor of all sorts! That's what this book is about, specifically the lead dog Balto of all (or part) of just such an expedition that occurred in 1925.But, this book is more about the "what happened after" than the actual event. We learn about Balto's rise to fame, his fall from it, and what happens thereafter.I appreciate that McCarthy wanted to highlight the amazing adventure *after* the amazing adventure -- the incredible things that happened to Balto after the trek to Nome, and the effect his heroism had on people all over the country. But, I really do think there needed to be more emphasis on the actual trek to Nome - it felt too glossed over and I wanted more to learn just how brave these wonderful dogs and men really were. Plus, I think it would have made the "what came after" all the more powerful.In reading the interesting and informative back matter, McCarthy explains how she does research (akin to being "a detective") and how she discovered so many contradicting reports of the actual trek, the dogs and men that took part, and who deserved the credit. Because of this I wonder of that's one of the reasons she didn't spend much time on the actual adventure to Nome, but then, too, I wonder if there shouldn't have been more mention of the other dogs and men that were a part of it, too.I really liked McCarthy's inclusion of how muddied reports can get, and her ideas for fun activities kids can do to try it out -- a great introduction for kids to learn to analyze everything, and to know that everything is told through someone's perceptions. This back matter is definitely four or five stars!All in all the book is informative and interesting, but nothing that really captured me. I still love McCarthy's "Astronaut Handbook" best, but this story is still worth reading since it's based on actual events!

This was a shorter read compared to the other books in the series, but I still mostly enjoyed it. If you haven't read any of the previous installments, you don't need to as it would do well enough as a stand alone, but I would recommend it as it gives a lot of background to the Irish faction like the members and the setting. Ivy is a down on her luck young woman who has been hanging around Slainte on the hopes of Crow hiring her as a stripper. She has spent a year as a prisoner of a local Locos gang member who was killed by Crow's crew while Ivy was in the room. While she didn't see anything, this puts her on Crow's watchlist. She hopes that by scoring a job at Slainte, the Locos crew, who is looking for her, will give her a wide berth, keeping her safe for the short term until she can save enough money to get her and her son out of dodge. Unbeknownst to her, Crow knows who she is and sets Conor on her to keep watch. Conor assumes she is a druggie due to her diminished physique, but once he sees she's on the street and struggling, he develops a soft spot for her and offers to marry her in order to keep her safe.This book was written similarly to its predecessors, so if you liked them, you should enjoy this story as well. There was a bit of action thrown in, as to be expected due to Ivy's history, but it was a little condensed due to the shorter nature of the book. I found it was still long enough to get to know the main characters. I liked Ivy. She had a good mix of frailty and courage. She wasn't looking for a handout and was just trying to get by. Conor came into his own in this story. In previous books, he gave me the impression of being a bit of a peon and really young. This was still kind of the case here, but his character was much stronger and independent. It was good to get a bit of background on him. Hhe had some of the typical alpha characteristics while remaining likeable. The Irish dialogue was entertaining.There were a couple of parts in the plot where hints were dropped casually enough that you knew they'd come to play later in the book and they did. I took a star off for a few reasons, even though I liked the story. Firstly, there was some repetition in the book regarding the underworld theme. Words like mafia, killer, mobster, etc. were thrown in regularly enough that it was laid on a bit thick - it's an underworld book, mentioning the above only a couple times is enough, but it was brought up a bit, especially by Ivy, e.g. I'm marrying a mobster/killer. Secondly, as someone who really loved the former books, I would have hoped the characters from them would feature a bit more heavily and with substance. Crow, Reaper, Rory, Mac and Alexei (briefly) pop up here and there, but only superficially. I fell in love with some of the couples from this series so I really wanted more, especially the partners and their relationship with their mobsters. This was just a personal gripe. Lastly, while I understand that there needs to be a bit of action, the end chapters were over the top. I won't go into detail here as I don't want to spoil anything, but a couple of things are implausible and then everything that could happen does happen to the point that it became ridiculous.Overall, it was still a good read. Just a couple of little things held it back from being a great read. I'll still continue to look forward to any future books in the series.

Ashleigh Zavarelli is arguably one of the best mafia romance writers of this generation. I haven’t read a bad book of hers and I am steadily going through her past books now that I have discovered her. Conor, the latest bebtry in her Boston Underworld series, is another prime example of how good of a writer Ashleigh really is.Conor follows the story of Ivy and, you know it, Conor O’ Callahan. Conor is one of Lachlan Crow’s most trusted soldiers and he didn’t think anything could make him betray the brotherhood... until Ivy.I absolutely fell in love with this book. It had all the elements that I adore - the danger, super alpha hero with a soft spot for the heroine, the feels that stay and make you reread the book. A Zavarelli will forever be one of my fave authors.

I love the Boston Underworld and all of it's Irish Mafia men, who will stop at nothing to protect what is theirs. A brotherhood forged through loyalty rather than by blood.Conor came into the mafia by accident. Caught up in vengeance for his murdered brother, brought him to Crow. Conor was willing to pay the ultimate price to get his retribution. However, the same characteristics that almost cost him his life, saved it. Now his loyalty is to Crow and his brothers.Conor is given a job to prove himself and it all goes awry when he sees his mark. As soon as he meets the woman he is supposed to tail and handle if necessary, everything changes.Ivy is struggling to get by. Her past haunts her. She's been a captive before, but is determined to give her son a better life. Too bad the past is still hunting her down.The men in this series are sexy and protective. When they love, they love completely. You will get swept away by Conor. He may be a killer when required, but he was also kind and caring. He was everything that Ivy and her son needed for the life that they deserved. The Boston Underworld is a series I continue to enjoy with each new release.

I like this story almost as much as I did Crow, the first book in the series and the story about Lachlan & Mack. Like Lachlan, Conor is a jealous, possessive and protective alpha male. Like Lachlan he is faithful and not a manwhore. Conor had not been with anyone in years before meeting Ivy. Like with Lachlan, Conor falls fairly quickly but is in denial. Conor, the youngest of the crew, seemed a lot more mature and serious then he did in other books that I read in this series and I liked that.Ivy is a likable character. She was homeless when she met Conor because she was caught up in bad situation that was not her fault. She was insecure at times but it was understandable given her history.The story moves at a good pace. I was never bored. I read it in one sitting. There were a few sexy times mixed with some drama and a HFN ending. Overall it is a good story and one that I liked enough that I bought it even though I read it free through KU.

The map has creases, but I won't be framing it for show so I suppose that's fine. The main problem is that the map is in Spanish with an English key. Again, this isn't a massive problem, but will cause some issues as most research sites are in the English translation.

Good map (paper). Not laminated, but a little less expensive. Can easily be framed, which is what I did, to preserve its integrity. Otherwise, map can be damaged (flimsy). Overall, I feel map deserves 5 stars, because it meets its intended purpose at a reasonable price. Recommended.

AMAZING writing? No. But fast paced, highly readable, yes. And super-interesting. Reads like what it is-- the tale of a young, somewhat foolhardy, definitely adventurous, bright and ambitious young reporter, who visits and really gets a feel for parts of the world that can seem quite closed to an outsider. Her fresh, not-entirely-polished approach to being a reporter makes her experiences read and feel more "authentic" than they might if she had already "arrived" as a reporter and she was working from inside a giant news corporation. I am personally very interested in Yemen (having married into a Yemeni family), so enjoy the "American woman in Yemen" aspect to this book. Her descriptions reflect my own experience having visited Yemen-- that it feels like an ancient, fairy tale society in some ways; that Yemenis not only live up to usual standards of Arab hospitality but are friendly above and beyond that; that it is really and truly so different from the US that it is like entering a different reality; that being an American woman in a highly gender divided society can be somewhat useful as one is almost a "third sex, " with some of the privileges of both men and women, from a Yemeni perspective.

"Everything Is Possible in Yemen: The Misadventures of a First-Time Journalist in the Middle East" by Heather Murdock, is an amazing book and a fantastic read.This book captivated me on the first page and by the end of the first part, I was completely hooked, I could not stop reading. The further I went into the book, the more I wanted to know.It is about the journey of a journalist, new to the job. Her travels take you to Yemen and the detailed description of her surroundings, sounds and smells transports you deep into the city of Sana'a and to the dusty roads of the countryside. She introduces you to the Yemeni culture and people, which at times, leaves you with a knot in your throat.You get a sense of truth from her, she wants you to know more and she wants to tell you, which makes this book captivating until the end. Her adventures brings you through all the emotions; excitement, fear, anger, sadness and happiness.I highly recommend this book, it's a true story that makes you wonder why, but in the end you know.

This was a truly enjoyable reading experience. I enjoyed it from the moment I started reading. Ms. Murdock does a good job of story telling and I found it to have just the right amount of humor to make me keep up with it. Read it in the first day after I downloaded it. As a ps, I have to say that although I have never met Heather, she is the daughter of one of my cousins. That's how I found out about the book, but my opinion stays high regardless. You can't go wrong reading this book.

So So read. I didn't find it interesting myself. It's the second journalist book I've read about Yemen & this was the least interesting.This was the kindle edition.Get from the library if you want to read. Not worth buying. Sorry so harsh.

This book will definitely make for a very interesting and entertaining reading, not only for those interested in journalism or Yemen, but to all interested in different cultures, life's uncertainty and overcoming challenges in general.

This fascinating story tells the story of a courageous young journalist who takes her responsibility to share the news with the world seriously. I was captivated from the moment I started reading the book. I had never really thought about the ongoing danger that journalists around the world experience on a daily basis until I read the book. This book is a must read for journalism students or anyone who cares about what's going on in other places in the world. It is beautifully written and and a great read.

Loved this book. Would love to read more by this author, but a little less swearing.
