It’s the perfect companion. The beautiful cover fills me with happy and inspired thoughts. I’ve always found journals so important as a place within which I can find clarity for my thoughts and feel the freedom to dream. These journals by premise content are so perfect for that. They are beautifully designed and made and they offer such an amazing variety of covers.

I gave one of these lovely sketchbooks to each of my daughters. It’s perfect for doodling and other impromptu creative output. The sketchbooks are always in their tote bags, ready for use. I have stocked up, because they are a great gift for all the creative women in my life.

Love this journal. It’s a softcover, like a paperback book, just as the description says. It’s flexible so I can carry it in my purse which allows me to write in it anywhere I am. Also has a beautiful cover. I’m going to be getting another one in blue.

I read these with my son when he was younger - now he whips through each book as soon as it's released. I love these books. I love Timmy's huge vocabulary, his constructed reality, his epic vision, human fragility and incompetence. I love his relationship with his mom, his friends, and his nemesis/girlfriend. This book wasn't my most favorite in the series, but it was still funny and poignant. If you have a sensitive child, or a child who has suffered loss or divorce, I can't recommend this series highly enough.

My grandson loves this series and has all of the books. He will be very sorry that this is the last one. I glanced through it and found myself laughing out loud.

Stephan Pastis has come to save us from the plethora of ho-hum, milquetoast comics and book series littering elementary school library shelves. Give this to your child to read and set aside the time to read it (and everything else Pastis has written) yourself.

You cannot download this book on Kindle. I bought this before realizing it. If it was compatible on Kindle, this review would be five stars. The book is laugh-out-loud hilarious, from the snooty Tom John John to Timmy's outrageous plans for the school film (they involve chucking a principal out the window and having a fourth-grade class inside a bar). Overall, buy this book on paper, not on Kindle.

Truer words were never written. Timmy and Total will live in my heart forever.

My grandson enjoys reading this series. Added it to his Christmas gifts.

Got this for my nephew, he loves this series.

Let me start off by saying that if you are a Tool fan looking for a deeper insight into the band this is not the book for you. If however you are interested in the many facets of the man who has gifted his audience throughout the years with his multiple projects, and how he has been able to leverage his creativity throughout his career this IS the book for you. I truly feel that this book is a gift to his audience. Even if you are not a die-hard fan of his music you can be inspired by this story. I have followed Maynard's many ventures including Tool, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, Merkin Vineyards, Caduceus Cellars, etc.. I have been to his tasting room in Jerome, multiple wine tasting events, numerous concerts (Tool, APC, and Puscifer), and have been strongly inspired by Maynard.Anyone that has followed Maynard's career knows that he has never really given his audience the full story whether it be lyrics to a song, or insights into his personal life. This book is a chance for the people who have been inspired by Maynard to learn about his own inspirations and creative path. The book is written in such a way that you can relate to it very well and like all of his work it's an opportunity to leverage as a source of creativity. I hope that everyone approaches this book with an open mind and is able to have the impactful experience that it is capable of providing. If you are interested enough to check a review on this book, please do yourself a favor and READ IT. I am not writing this book as a fan of Tool or as a fan of Maynard, but I'm writing this as a fan of A Perfect Union of Contrary Things.P.S. Someone wrote a review about this book being a money grab. I checked out the other reviews this person has written to see how credible of a source she might be. This is her review of CliffsNotes on The Bible, Revised Edition: "i was hoping for a basic bible book. and it starts off about the old testament and uses words that i don't understand. was hoping it would be basic, almost 5th grade level, and it wasn't. thus i am more confused... i stopped after 10 pages. and feel bad."

I am a fan. Have been since the mid 90's. That being said, the great Canadian band, Big Wreck once said, " I've never played the villain in the stories I've told". I find this to be a glaring side effect to this book of self praise. I enjoy biographies regardless if they're written by, assisted or ghost written. The fact that Keenan takes a back seat to his own biography as a footnote commentator I found a bit strange. And while the author writes eloquently and does extensive research in extracting quotes from friends, family and others from Keenan's past; I felt it was a fancy dressing. Expensive wordage for a dime store tale. It was that sort of humanity I found lacking. No sense of humility. Inundated with profound focus, talent and success, one may conclude that Keenan has the Midas touch. I'll reiterate that I am a fan. The man of mystery from the music that contained such a question for its listener; maybe I shouldn't have read this. I feel like I went to high school with him and I'm tired of his black skinny jeans, wallet chain, Misfits T-shirt, and a smirk that hides ideals that others aren't good enough for. This read like a resume. Success on top of success by someone that was blessed with the energy to dream it and solar clock that contains more hours in his day. I wasn't looking for the classic sex and drugs motif. Or even the tired tale of the underdog turned hero. I just was hoping for something more humanistic than a book of self praise with overly abused adjectives on how great Keenan can scream.

I liked this book, all I knew about Hammurabi was that he developed this code. This book tells of his life and what he did besides write this famous code or set of laws. It is hard sometimes to truly know what happened in ancient times because not all records are preserved that well over time, but this book does a good job of taking the facts as are known by historians and what is conjecture and puts it in a good format for the reader to understand.

Hammurabi and his Code of Laws need to make an appearance on today's world stage to scare the stupidity out of people! A refreshing read about an ancient Babylonian king and his way of being just and fair to the average person. Presuming innocence till proven guilty was alive thousands of years before the birth of Christ according to the stele of the Code of Hammurabi! Makes one really think about their connection to the past.

The name Hammurabi" or "Ham-murabi" means "Leader of All". And that's Persian. Throughout all these ancient empires, especially that of the Sumerians, the Zoroastrian (or Zorastrian) religion was the common thread that was woven into their cultures. That monotheistic faith in its many forms, is 14,000 years old. Mesopotamia (Iraq) was once a part of the Persian Empire and it was King Cyrus (Kurosh) the Persian king who later rescued the Israelites from bondage in Babylon.

My 7 year old wants to be a Marine Biologist and study sharks when he grows up! I got him into shark week and now he knows all these random facts about sharks that seem so crazy, but when I look them up and he's correct. Did you know there is a shark that can walk on land.... so crazy! Anyway, I bought this for him for Christmas and I cannot wait for him to open it up. My son is very advanced and was able to teach himself how to read very quickly. I would say this book does a great job of giving all the facts without using crazy words that kids can't read. I would say this is about a 3rd grade reading level. I know he will love this! It's so great and will keep him reading for days! I am very happy with this purchase!

This is my 6 year old sons favorite book, he carries it around with him and we read it every night. It is definitely a visual book with high quality full page color photos and cool graphics, less written information that captures interesting facts, diet, location etc. It also includes other creatures of the sea, and would be a great book as a gift or a reference book for a home library.

DK books never disappoint! This is a huge book with lots of great pictures and information that is great for all ages.

Got it for my nephew who is 4 and loves sharks. The illustrations are dope, and there’s no lack of fun information in here. Even though he’s too young to read it yet he absolutely loves it and asks for it to be read to him before bed.

This is a beautiful book! The size of the book and the clarity and size of the illustrations make it a unique and informative book about sharks and other creatures. My 7 year old grandson loves sharks and this book.

I have an obsession with sharks and so does a friend. Picked this up for her for xmas but flipped through it myself first. Great pictures, information and love the details. Will be purchasing for myself soon

My son loves this book. He has autism and sharks are his new obsession. Very easy for him to read.

Not many cookbook came out in recent year reach the same cult status as White Heat, Beyond nose to tail, Au Pied de Cochon. I felt this book has it.It's a fun cookbook and what everyday meal should look like, not commercialized meat. I want my everyday dinner to be like this. Getting chicken with feet on it. How many time you would see chicken in supermarket with feet still intact or head and neck? That's what food should look like as pure as it was over 150-200 years ago before commercialized farming started.I feel Gabriel Rucker is a kinda chef around my neighbor, less ego. Just cook good food and make food fun. His personality has stamped all over this book. I love this book so much that I ordered two more copies and sent them to friends. After reading this book, I simply want to book a flight to PDX to visit my soul sister, eat there, and walk up to the kitchen to say hello to him. And she is a huge fan of this restaurant.

This is one of those cookbooks you can enjoy reading as much as you can enjoy using it. I live in Portland and have eaten at Le Pigeon several times. I've also done quite a bit of traveling and have eaten at several excellent restaurants throughout the US and France, and I can say quite emphatically that this is the best restaurant I've ever visited. As you might expect, the recipes in this book are complicated, and you probably won't be able to duplicate what the restaurant does with them, but if you want to try your hand at preparing complicated recipes concocted by a true master, this will provide you the opportunity. Even if you don't try many of the recipes, you're likely to get a lot of joy just out of reading them.

As a professional cook with a degree in culinary arts I read a lot of cookbooks and other types of foodie books from Betty Crocker to Charlie Trotter. It's easy for a Chef to become far to serious about food, to intense and then they become off-putting. In the introduction to this book you get a look inside the journey of a Chef from being in over his head to being a 2 time James Beard Award Winner. Chef Rucker has a sense of humor while he goes about cooking. The integrity and care of the ingredients, which is vital, is there but with a touch of whimsy.True some of the recipes are almost completely inaccessible to the home cook but they provide a look into the professional kitchen that the Food network and Top Chef cannot provide. It takes time and dedication to accomplish what you see on your table as you dine out and this book is an example of the care that goes into it.

I love the way this cookbook is written. It is not for the quick cook looking to get something on the table quickly. It is more geared for someone who appreciates 'off the beaten track' ingredients that involve a bit of time to coax out the best of ingredients. The dishes are complex and show a lot of thought of planning a dish and why it works. If you enjoy cooking and want to learn knew methods, thought processes about why certain ingredients work well with each other and are looking simply for a different view point on how to prepare new and tried and true ingredients you will enjoy even just reading this cookbook. Can't wait to try this restaurant - although is on the other side of the country!

We have a gourmet cooking group. I gave this book to one of us for his birthday. As the cooking challenge we passed this cookbook around and each cooked an entre and a side dish...The recipes were soooo... good, and the history, stories and other writings throughout the book made the whole experience really fun, because of course, we read the stories! We all went to the restuarant, Le Pigeon, for a dinner and had more fun watching their cooks! Yummy!

Lovely book, predictably pretentious (I know that's kinda the point), from ultra-hipster Portland, interesting recipes but ones your not likely to ever cook on your own (partially because of strange ingredients). Meat centric and completely honest about it.

I love this restaurant. If you're ever in Portland Oregon you got to go!!! Love the cookbook a lot of interesting recipes that are challenging me in the kitchen.

Big beautiful heavy almost coffee table size book. Bought as a gift for my hubby who is a NYC chef. He was very delighted it was on his list. Top chef book.
